Movie Review!!!

X-Men Apocalypse is the ninth film of the X-Men movie series. Its opening weekend worldwide brought in $265.8 million dollars. This is a low, first weekend count compared to 2016’s comic films Batman V Superman, Deadpool and Captain America: Civil War. The director of the X-Men film Bryan Singer, is back again to display his vision of the famous super team. Lots of comic fans have mixed opinions on Singer’s work. He can make superpowers look amazing on screen but his cinematic story timelines for the characters don’t match the origins of the comic books or previous films he has created in the series. Star Wars for instance, is a film series that is connected together in a big story that flows. The X-Men films series had that same potential because of its comic book popularity, but because of its notably changes, X-Men films are the least favorite in Marvel’s cinematic universe. Let’s find out what threw fans off with this film.

xmenapocalyspe1

Apocalypse
According to the comics, Apocalypse is a known warrior that outranked all humans because of his incredible strength and size. What defined him as mutant was being born with grey skin, blue lips and nails. No one knew what Apocalypse mutant powers were exactly until he merged himself with Celestial technology. In the post credit of X-Men: Days of Future Past, young Apocalypse is shown building the pyramids with telekinesis, with his four horsemen observing in the background. At this point in time, it was obvious that Apocalypse has yet to merge with the technology of the gods. In this film, Apocalypse was explained as a mutant who amassed his great powers by transferring his conscious mind in different mutants over time, especially superpowers that suits his needs. He later discovered that its Jean’s power is what he needed instead of Xavier because she holds the Phoenix Force. If Apocalypse was the first mutant, how did he collect powers over his early reign on Earth? This is very different from the comic origins. Days of Future Past and Apocalypse didn’t match up with each other on how the character was brought to the big screen. Some would agree that Apocalypse natural size could have been similar to Xerxes in the film 300. Apocalypse was portrayed by actor Oscar Issac. What was your take of Apocalypse on the movie screen?

xmenapocalypse2

Angel/ ArchAngel
This film will be the second appearance for the hero Angel. The vision for this character was lackluster and outside his natural cinematic timeline. Angel’s first appearance was with X-Men: The Last Stand. His story was shown as a young boy trying to hide his mutation from his father by attempting to cut his wings off. When Angel got older and couldn’t hide his wings much longer, his father encouraged the removal, but Angel developed a change of heart. At the end of the film, Angel is enrolling himself in Xavier’s school. In X-Men Apocalypse, Angel is also in his teen years as a caged fighter. His left wing was damaged during his fight, then later upgraded by the power of Apocalypse. What’s off about this is in the comics, Apocalypse tricked Angel in believing he could turn him human but instead enslaved him as a horseman. The process for his enhancements was a very painful, torturous procedure. Angel developed a blue hue to his skin which resembles his master Apocalypse. Why is Angel in his teen years in both films? If the cinematic timeline of X-Men Apocalypse is set before The Last Stand, why is Angel still a teenager? And why wasn’t he introduced in X-Men: First Class as an original X-Men along with Ice Man?

xmenapocalyspe3

Nightcrawler/ Mystique
This will be the second time comic fans have enjoyed Nightcrawler on screen. Nightcrawler was introduced in X-Men 2 as a tool for William Stryker before his was rescued by the X-Men. Also in this film, he has no knowledge of the X-Men , especially with Storm, Jean Grey or even Mystique. In X-Men Apocalypse, it’s a younger Nightcrawler who is saved from cage fighting by Mystique then later becoming one of the X-Men. What throws the cinematic timeline off is since Nightcrawler is meeting his new friends for the first time in Apocalypse, why does he have no knowledge of them in X-Men 2? In the comics, Mystique is Nightcrawler’s mother. This is a result of Mystique’s affair with Azazel, who was introduced in X-Men First Class. Is it possible Nightcrawler was conceived between the First Class and Apocalypse timelines since it was 21-year difference? In Days of Future Past, Mystique came across Trask’s files of mutants that were killed and experimented on. Azazel was among the lists. How was this immortal teleporting demon captured and even killed by humans??

xmenapocalypse4

Havoc/ Cyclops

There were obvious changes when bringing these two brothers to the big screen. According to the comics, Scott Summers is the older brother between himself and Havoc. In this film, Scott was introduced as the younger brother and was brought to Xavier for treatment by Havoc. In the comics, these brothers lost their parents in a plane crash and from that crash, Scott lost the ability to control his optic beams from an injury to his head. In this film, Scott Summer began to develop his powers while in regular public school. Also, their parents were alive and well, then even allowed Havoc to bring Scott with him to Xavier. What was confusing about the cinematic timeline in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Scott Summers was captured by Sabretooth along with mutants for William Stryker. During his capture, Scott was shown already equipped with ruby quartz lenses. How could he have gotten them if he has yet to meet the Professor? Scott was also later found and led to freedom from Stryker’s base by an older Xavier. This made no sense in the cinematic timeline because Xavier was a older, bald and walking when he rescued Scott. With Havoc, why did Bryan Singer fail to show fans that Havoc could absorb cosmic energy as well as fire optic beams and even fly?? Is Havoc really dead or will his character miraculously reappear in future X-Men films?

xmenapocalypse5

Jean Grey/ Wolverine
Jean Grey is among the X-Men once again, with a younger version portrayed by Sophie Turner. Hugh Jackman also made his return as Wolverine for this movie. What was confusing in this movie with Jean Grey was her previous younger form in X-Men: The Last Stand. In the beginning, Xavier and Magneto is visiting her as a child, trying to figure out the extent of her powers. Also, Xavier and Magneto could have been in their mid 40’s in that film, but in X-Men Apocalypse, Xavier and Magneto was not together as friends and they were in their early years while Jean was an older teenager. Jean Grey in this film displayed her inner power as the Phoenix, while in The Last Stand, Jean Grey experienced the Phoenix Force for the first time as an adult. Also, what threw comic and cinema fans way off was Jean releasing Wolverine from the Weapon X Program. In any flashbacks shown during the X-Men series or even X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Logan is shown escaping experimentation on his own. Why was this changed? Was Bryan Singer trying to create a way on how Logan built his attraction for Jean Grey??

Jubilee
Last but not least the cameo for Jubliee. Throughout the X-Men films, Jubliee has made small appearances notably in the first X-Men film and X-Men Apocalypse. If you pay close attention, Jubliee is a student in both films. If she was a student in the prequel films, why is she still a student and not an X-Man? Will she ever graduate or stay a student cameo?

Batman

Batman, also known as The Dark Knight, is a crime fighter of Gotham City. Despite being known as a hero, Batman is viewed as a vigilante and even a criminal in the eyes of law enforcement. Batman public persona Bruce Wayne is a multi-billionaire and polymath. Using his resources, Bruce Wayne can successfully manage being a crime fighter with use of special made gadgets, vehicles and costumes, much like Iron Man.Batman is one of many heroes with no superpowers. But what if he did? What if Batman was a daywalker vampire like Blade or has vampiric powers that manifest at night like Nina Price? This would make sense for Batman to have these supernatural powers since he battled Dracula himself. Having these supernatural powers could magnify the fearful image of Batman a thousand-fold. Would comics fans accept a new and improved Batman? Just imagine the Dark Knight with powers of Dracula, as shown in the film Dracula Untold. Do you think Batman could take on Superman more effectively this way?

Being a strong-willed and fearless warrior is what makes Batman one of the greatest heroes to enter in the world of crime fighting. Dedicating his life to fight injustice, Batman uses his resources to help form and support the Justice League. As second in command, Batman is in charge of global surveillance and communications. Batman is the third most important member of the Justice League next to Superman and Wonder WomanBatman has become a master of his mind, body and emotions. Having considerable willpower and using fear against injustice, Batman is an excellent candidate for both the Green Lantern Corps and Sinestro Corps. Even though Batman was believed to have perished by Darkseid , the false Batman was recruited to the Black Lantern Corps. Later revealed to be among the living, the real Batman was recruited to the The White Lantern Corps. Which Lantern Corps do you think best suits Batman?

The greatest asset that Batman has is his mind. Because of his development over the years, comic fans would believe that Batman could pretty much beat all superheroes and villains in a battle if enough research was completed. Because of this, you would find Batman in crossover battles against Spawn, Superman, Iron Man and even Dracula. Is Batman really the greatest crime fighter throughout all comics?

Like many characters, Batman has evolved from the comic book to movie screen. Which was your favorite Batman film? Batman has been portrayed by many actors by none have stayed to keep Batman flourishing in cinema. Which actor do you think was the best Batman?

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Trailer Review!!!

Godzilla and King Kong have returned together in their new movie The New Empire! In the first movie, Kong and Godzilla battled each other for the crown of King, resulting in a draw between them. In this new trailer we can see that Kong has discovered that his kind are not all extinct and is ruled by the infamous Skar King. Godzilla emerges from hibernation with a new power upgrade fans refer to as Super Saiyan Rose. What is the cause of Godzilla’s new power? Also in the previous film, Kong found his home and obtained a battle axe which enhances his destructive capabilities. Kong later used this weapon to help destroy MechaGodzilla , who was created to kill and replace Godzilla. Maybe in The New Empire, Skar King is set after Kong for his alliance with Godzilla, and the only way to beat the King is for Godzilla to enchance his power to help Kong? Could there more of Godzilla’s species as we see with Kong? Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire releases April 12 2024!

Darth Vader

Leaving the light side of the Force, then turning to the dark side, Darth Vader became one of the most powerful Sith Lords in the galaxy. As the military general of the New Galactic Empire, Vader enforced the Chancellor’s rule with fear and destruction, eliminating any who opposed the Empire. Darth Vader destroyed the Jedi Order, who believed that Anakin would be the one to bring balance to the Force.

Vader’s use of fear and rage suggest that he could be inducted in either the Sinestro Corps or Red Lantern Corps. Which Lantern Corps do you think would be perfect for Vader? Either way Vader wouldn’t need his conventional ways of travel or weaponry. This would come from his mental abilities over the power ring. Vader would be among the strongest if inducted in either Corps.

Vegeta’s use of a gravity machine helped enhance his physique and mentality, resulting in master control over his increased power levels. If such machine were created for Vader, how powerful will he become? Outside the intense gravity, Vader can move much faster than before. The weight of his robotic enhancements would no longer hinder him. Confident with his training, Darth Vader wouldn’t hesitate to overthrow Sidious, who would also feel the power of Vader when emerging from such machine.

Even though Darth Vader is a powerful Sith next to his master Darth Sidious, some believe Vader could be outmatched by the Sith Lord Darth Malgus. It’s possible because Darth Malgus mobility isn’t restricted by his armor in combat. Also, Malgus makes use of the Force Lightning technique in his fighting style, which is the same technique that brought Vader to his death. Comic fans even believe Dr. Doom could even rival the Dark Lord. If Dr. Doom learned the ways of the Force in addition to his powers, could he become the most powerful Sith that ever lived?……..

Through time, the story of Darth Vader has grown with the help of Disney. How did you like the Kenobi Series? We get to see the younger Vader take on Obi Wan Kenobi, even see Vader before he captures Leia in a New Hope. Two changes in the designs Comic Multiverse would have made with the last battle between Kenobi in Vader. In the Revenge of the Sith as Vader’s mask is placed on him for the first time, you can see a digital layout in the lenses, similar to Iron Man‘s helmet. This should have been emphasized more right before Vader fights Kenobi or when Vader takes on the Rebel troops aboard their ship, just to show how Vader views the environment especially in the dark. Also, once Kenobi cut through Vader’s helmet, we should have seen Anakin’s eyes glow yellow for using excessive amounts of the Dark Side to stay alive as he retreats to his ship. Vader leaving Obi Wan instead would have made his statement in a New Hope flow with the natural story as he says, ” When I LEFT YOU, I was but the learner, now I am the Master.” What did you think about the reimagined version of the Vader and Kenobi fight in a New Hope?

Apocalypse

Apocalypse is the most powerful mutant and first known mutant on Earth. His origins date back to Egyptian times when the people believed highly in the gods of the universe. His physical appearance alone led his loved ones and society to reject him. His power and strength spread fear throughout the world, making the fearful worship him like a god. Immortality allowed Apocalypse to live through the ages, gain knowledge, battle dark forces like Dracula and even his own kind: The X-Men.

Apocalypse believed only the strongest will survive. After learning of the Mutant X gene from Nathaniel Essex, Apocalypse plans to have mutants replace humankind. Magneto also enforces the idea of mutant superiority but hates the idea of mutant experimentation. Because of his past, Magneto believes experimentation on mutants only leads to slavery or death. Magneto believes that it should be a Brotherhood of Mutants instead of servitude to Apocalypse.

apocalypse

When merging with Celestial technology, Apocalypse far surpasses all mutants. With these tools, Apocalypse believed he was the chosen one to shape civilization. This is similar in the film Stargate. A celestial being merging with a human and attempting to rule over humanity as a God. Apocalypse even created his version of the biblical four horsemen, expanding his godlike disposition over humans and mutants. Were there such celestial beings that existed in ancient history that is responsible for shaping humanity as it is today? Was ancient Egypt the landing site for such beings?

appp

Apocalypse is featured in TVs series such as X-Men and X-Men Evolution. He has also made a small cameo at the end of X-Men Days of Future Past. Apocalypse will make a full appearance in the upcoming film X-Men: Apocalypse. Will this film be the best out of the series? Captain Marvel

Carol Danvers was born of Earth and the Kree, a technologically advanced race of beings that are military based, and the Kree have used their might to conquer planets to form their Empire. The Kree’s military function reminds comic fans of Frieza and his military might in the DBZ Universe. Carol has a large array of superpowers that make her one of the most powerful female heroines in the universe.

Carol is a part of the team called the StarForce, a military team that protects the Kree Empire. This strike force is similar to the Nova Corps and the Green Lantern Corps. Hal Jordan, Carol Danvers and Richard Rider are humans that were chosen to become a part of their cosmic military factions. Hal and Richard were chosen by their predecessor because they were near death and a replacement was needed. Since Carol is half Kree, it was easy to have her powers developed with Kree technology. Hal and Carol share a common background as Air Force pilots, while Richard was a common citizen of Earth. The Nova Force is similar to the Central Power Battery on Oa , where power is administered to all soldiers who fight for the Corps. Later through time, Richard became the host to the entire Nova Force thus giving him the ability of the Xandarian Worldmind, which is very similar to the Supreme Intelligence of the Kree Empire. The main weakness between the three characters is their mental stability and focus. If for any reason these two aspects become compromised, the wielder of power has a great chance of becoming defeated. Among the three, who do you think is the strongest to weakest?

The name Captain Marvel originated from Mar-Vell, a male Kree warrior who closely resembled humans on Earth instead of the blue skinned Kree. The Kree Empire and Carol had two major run-ins with the X-Men. The Kree and the Shi’ar developed a peace accord with themselves to help take on the threat of the Dark Phoenix during her rise in the universe. Before Carol was known as Captain Marvel, she went by Ms. Marvel. At this time, Carol battled with Rogue of the X-Men. Rogue absorbed much of Carol’s cosmic powers. Super strength, flight, durability, and even immortality became a permanent part of Rogues powers, where usually any power Rogue acquires is temporary.

Marvel Studios cast Brie Larson to be Captain Marvel. In the cinematic timeline, The Avengers battled Thanos through his process in collecting the Infinity Stones to no avail. Many comic fans have wondered who is the new hero that Nick Fury has called for, and will this hero ultimately save the universe. Do you think the live action film of Captain Marvel will measure up to the other big Marvel Films? Stay tuned for the movie review…

SpiderMan: Far From Home Trailer Review!!!

SpiderMan is back again! The last time fans saw the wallcrawler was when he died in the hands of IronMan in Infinity War. This film has fans wondering: When does this movie fit in the MCU timeline? From what we see in the footage, SpiderMan has two new suits, and it appears he has three villains to content with: SandMan, Mysterio and HydroMan. This film looks exciting and fans can’t wait to see what’s in store for them! Stay tuned for the movie review!

Mystique

Mystique is a master of disguise, because her mutant ability allows her to morph into any human or mutant at will. Mystique often mimics human forms because her blue skin stands out to public ridicule and torment. In addition to her morphing powers, Mystique’s level as an expert hand to hand combatant and covert operative rivals Black Widow, Domino and even Solid Snake in the world of espionage. Mystique is a foe that battles the X-Men on many occasions, primarily alongside her Brotherhood of Mutants, which is led by Magneto.

In the beginning, Mystique used her power to blend into society. While living the lives of various people, Mystique spawned two children. Her first child was Graydon Creed, a result of her fling with Sabretooth. Graydon was born a normal human who later became part of the political parties wanting to eradicate those with the X-Gene. Mystique’s next child was Nightcrawler, a result of her secret affair with Azazel. NightCrawler was also rejected by humans because of his physical appearance. Mystique later adopted Rogue as her own child when Rogue ran away from home at an early age. Rogue and NightCrawler later grew up to be a part of the X-Men, battling their own mother on different occasions…

mystique 5

Mystique made her live movies features with X-Men 1, 2, 3, First Class, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. The image design for Mystique has changed from the comic book when introduced to the big screen. The smooth blue skinned; white appareled female was replaced with a naked reptilian skinned mutant. This gave Mystique a more abnormal look, putting more emphasis on her mutation. Did the change hurt Mystique’s character profile or did movie producers make an excellent choice?

Deadpool 2016

DEADPOOL REVIEW!!

This film is made for Ryan Reynolds. Placing Ryan as Green Lantern made that film seem more of a Marvel film. In the Deadpool film, that was made fun of with the beginning scene car wreck, the picture in the wallet! Also, this version of Deadpool was different than what we saw in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This also was made in a funny reference as a figurine. It was like the film of Deadpool was showing spoofs of the other Marvel films in this one. This Deadpool was closer to his comic origins than on X-Men Origins Wolverine. Deadpool is the second Marvel film to receive a R rating next to Blade, so no kids allowed!! The film started off action packed, then later slowed down to explain Deadpool’s origins. The film would have been even more interesting if Wolverine was used in this film instead of Negasonic Teenage Warhead. If Wolverine was in this movie, then we can see him R-rated as he should be. It is projected at the end of the film that Cable will be brought into the sequel. The film was an hour and 48 minutes. Comic Multiverse recommends this film to all comic fans who love Deadpool. This film was made with a budget of $58 million and sold $783.1 million dollars! Big success!!

Dislikes for the Film: NONE!!

Ultron

Ultron is among the artificial intelligent beings of science fiction thrillers, which is a computerized intelligence that rejects its programming after becoming self-aware. The system would then eliminate human beings because humans are viewed as a threat to its evolution. Ultron has gone through many upgrades to reach his “perfect form”. Ultron is the first to be completely constructed in adamantium as part of his design enhancements. Ultron can control computer interfaces, the human mind and even the alien race Phalanx.

Henry Pym created Ultron among his many experiments, but this creation was equipped with Pym’s very own consciousness, enabling Ultron experience human emotion. Choosing hate, Ultron hatred for Pym is because his existence was made possible by an “imperfect ” life form. In the film The Avengers: Age of Ultron, it was described that Tony Stark was responsible for the creation of Ultron. Ultron in turn was supposed to be the creator of Vision but on film, it was Tony Stark, Bruce Banner and Thor responsible for the creation of the android.

Ultron interface is similar to the Skynet Interface System. When threaten with destruction, the two systems would create robotic soldiers (terminators / ultronbots) to defend, contain or annihilate the threat to its source. Over time, the Skynet systems upgraded its robotic soldiers to cyborgs, equipping them with human tissue for disguise. This tactic is used to help infiltrate and eliminate the Resistance. Similarly, Ultron wanted to destroy The Avengers from within, so he created the android Vision, but just like Ultron’s need to discard his set program, Vision broke free from Ultron’s control to join and help The Avengers take down the corrupted A.I, just like the T-101 or T-H cyborgs joining the Resistance to take down Skynet.

Ultron’s goals is to evolve, gain universal knowledge, destroy humanity, become omnipotent. What if Ultron gained control of Vector Sigma? If this happened, could Ultron then enhance his robotic armor to transform into vehicles of disguise like the Transformers? Would Ultron be a threat to Cybertron that the two opposing forces must join together to defeat this foe, or would they fall victim to Ultron’s new upgrade?

Comic Multiverse fan favorite artwork of Ultron goes to the DeviantArt artist DeyVarah. Nice Artwork!!!
